The Mezquita of Cordoba is fairly unique in that it really gives the impression of Christianity still just camping out in a Muslim mosque. The two side pictures give and idea of the simplicity of the original architechture. The central pictures shows what must be one of the earliest Christian additions, a chapel in the Mudejar style. Other churches and chapels of various periods are scattered almost randomly about the vast space of the mosque. Christian paintings and sculpures are positioned in available spaces and convey the impression of being part of a temporary exhibition. |
